Why I Made Haunt My House 🎃

Halloween used to mean waiting for the doorbell to ring, handing out candy, and seeing the neighborhood come alive for one night.

But after the pandemic, Halloween started to feel different where I lived. Fewer kids came to the door. Trunk-or-treats became more common. Some years, I’d end the night with a bowl full of candy and barely anyone to give it to.

I missed those small, silly interactions with people I might not otherwise talk to.

Inspired in part by the simple joy of Color My Tree, I wanted to bring a little of that feeling online. So I made Haunt My House.

Create a house. Share it with your friends. Let them leave something spooky behind, and maybe a secret message for you to open on Halloween.

It’s not meant to replace trick-or-treating. It’s just another small way to connect and celebrate Halloween together.
